      ‘Camera Obscura’ wins Best Australian Animation

      A thesis film 'Camera Obscura' made by our student Marta Maia, has been awarded Best Australian Animation Award at the 2012 World of Women: WOW Film Festival held last night at Dendy Opera Quays. Film's composer Christina Christensen received Best Composer Award.

      Best Comedy Feature Award

      SFS graduate, 21 year old Nick Danger has been internationally awarded for his feature film Sick. Sick, has won Best Comedy Feature and Best Supporting Actress at the American Independent Filmmaker Showcase and will screen in Los Angeles on March 22. IFS judges remarked: “Themes that could easily fall into cliché are done with intellect and fresh sensitivity. We wish Hollywood still made films this honest and funny”.

      GAYBY BABY

      A graduate of ours - director of SFS 2007 documentary film ‘Richard’ and a recipient of the Outstanding New Documentary Talent Award at the 2011 Adelaide Film Festival - is developing a new feature documentary, ‘Gayby Baby’ about the experiences and perspectives of children growing up in same-sex families. You can take part in making it!

      This week's Meet the Filmmaker class features John Duigan, an award-winning writer/producer, director and some time actor whose features include The Engagement (2011), Head in the Clouds (2004) with Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz, Sirens (1993) and Romero (1989) and the AFI best picture winners, The Year My Voice Broke (1987) and Flirting (1991).
